Crackling Claps is glad to represent the 10th release, which is what they call 'artistic' music.
Cain seeks to tell a story with every track that he writes – so the music tends to be quite rich harmonically, and sometimes the tunes will have abrupt changes. The approach can be both epic and powerful, and also ethereal and intimate. At the same time, he seeks to balance this with keeping a strong rhythmic pulse, and loves using unusual, tribal rhythms. For sounds used, he melds psycho-acoustic sounds with synths and samples.
Cain has an unusual musical background, having been both professional bagpiper and scratch DJ. Everyone tells him that he is a one-off in that regard, but he’s sure there are others out there….
He wanted to call this release 'Gathering' since these 4 tracks represent the effort to combine a myriad of different ideas to form distinct tunes for the Crackling Claps release. The main focus was to inject the different aesthetics he wanted to project into the rhythmic base each tune had. Batter needed to have a menacing feel for example, whilst Ruinous Heen should sound ungrounded and rolling.
